The Hatch
This 18th century ship captain’s cottage is located on Dunmore Street on the edge of Harbour Island’s historic village. While The Hatch retains its original colonial charm, the home has been updated with the addition of a large outdoor dining room, living room, bar, heated swimming pool and guest cottage. Guests may enjoy toasting the sunset over the harbour from the house’s rooftop deck or pulling up a chair to “Wic’s Bar” to enjoy a cool drink after a relaxing day at the beach.
The main house is comprised of two bedrooms on the upper storey, with a shared bathroom and one bedroom on the main floor with an en-suite bathroom. As well, there is a one bedroom guest cottage with an en-suite bathroom. The kitchen features Viking stainless steel appliances, hand crafted wooden cabinets and a traditional wooden countertop. The dining room is located under a large covered patio and the dining table seats 10 people. The Hatch possesses two living rooms, one in the original cottage and one under the large covered patio. The interior living room features a romantic white slipcovered sofa and chairs and is the perfect place to relax with a good book. The exterior living room is located next to the outdoor dining room. Guests will surely enjoy watching television while reclining on the comfortable built-in sofas or while floating in the pool.
