The Landing Harbor Island

HomeThe Best Bahamas RestaurantsThe Landing Harbor Island

You have just arrived at Harbour Island in the Bahamas and are looking for an elegant restaurant in which to begin your vacation. The Landing Restaurant, located in Dunmore Town, has been around since the 1800s and is one of the town’s most famous resorts. The plantation style building offers only 13 guest rooms and contains a wine cellar, a library, and one of the best restaurants in town. No matter what kind of food you like, you are sure to find it prepared in an inventive and unique way by chef Madelene Pedican at The Landing Harbor Island.

The Dining Room

Every table in the gracious dining room is decorated with white table cloths, beads and a pineapple. The tables are surrounded by comfortable chairs and the walls are decorated with paintings by local artists.

The Food at The Landing Harbor Island

The Landing restaurant puts a local spin on many classic dishes. Breakfast selections include an avocado cucumber sourdough toast, a brioche doughnut that comes with salted caramel cream filling and sweet and substantial ricotta hotcakes with honeycomb butter.

You can get coffee and juice, or you can start your morning off right with a Bloody Mary, mimosa, or one of the restaurant’s signature champagne drinks, which mixes a bit of the bubbly with elderberry, French ginger or guava liqueur.

The dinner menu offers such inventive concoctions as goat cheese ravioli with shrimp, a sharp and rich arugula and parmesan salad, and penne with a perfectly balanced pesto. You will want to try a side of the famous crispy potato stacks or parmesan and truffle fries. If you prefer healthier fare you may want to order a side of the super fresh steamed greens with olive oil and sea salt.

No matter what you do, do not skip dessert at The Landing Harbor Island. The banana brown sugar upside down cake comes accompanied by a creamy rum raisin ice cream. The Belgian hot chocolate pudding combines dark rich chocolate mousse with vanilla ice cream. The Italian desert affogato is ice cream covered with a shot of expresso. This restaurant puts a creative spin on the concoction by adding Frangelico for a hazelnut taste.
