The Dunmore

If you take a stroll on the pink sand beach on Harbor Island, you will happen across The Dunmore, a boutique resort that is comprised of small cottages. One of those cottages contains the resort’s namesake restaurant, which is one of the best eateries in the Bahamas.

As you walk in the door of The Dunmore Harbor Island, you are reminded of a simpler time. The room is decorated with a vintage white and salmon color scheme and the walls are ornamented with black and white photographs of the Bahamas in the 60’s.

The Food at The Dunmore Harbor Island

The restaurants menu is an eclectic mix of French and American cuisine. The emphasis is on fresh, locally procured fruits, vegetables and fish which are prepared in imaginative and delicious sauces. Unlike many of their competitors, they are open for all three meals.

Breakfast

There is no better way to kick off a day in the Bahamas than with one of The Dunmore’s organic omelets or an avocado toast with pesto. If you like something a little sweeter in the morning, the restaurant offers a crispy coconut French toast that comes with warm caramel sauce and whipped cream. They also have a pancake stack with blueberry syrup and toffee butter.

Lunch

The lunch menu at The Dunmore Harbor Island has a heavy emphasis on seafood. The appetizers include crispy shrimp tacos and tuna nachos. Entrees include a lobster cobb salad. If seafood is not your thing, there is a penne pasta with a hearty marinara sauce or a burrata salad which comes with candied pistachios and a pesto vinaigrette. Whatever you may chose, be sure to get a side of the tangy slaw and the truffle fries for the table.

Dinner

Dinner at The Dunmore is a great way to end the day. The dining room offers a beautiful view of the beach and a lot of tasty food. Kick off your meal a rich beet spread that combines the robust root vegetable with toasted hazelnuts and whipped goat cheese. The best of the entrees includes the daily pasta and the local lobster tail.

The desserts include a decadent triple chocolate flowerless cake, which comes with dark chocolate ice cream. If that sounds like too much coco, you can have a sweet coconut cheese cake with strawberry sorbet or warm banana fritters with ice cream and caramel sauce.
