When it comes to a Bahamas getaway, there’s always a reason to get up and go make the most of this spectacular destination. However, when you’re traveling with family and looking to avoid the crowds while enjoying quality time together consider planning a fall break getaway this year. With mild temperatures, less hustle and bustle from tourists and plenty of sand and sun for all, the Bahamas in the fall is a vacation that’s sure to come with a collection of life-long memories. When you’re putting together the itinerary, here are a few family-fun stops you’ll want to add to the list during your Bahamas vacation.
Ardastra Gardens, Zoo and Conservation Center
Located on Chippingham Road in Nassau, the Ardastra Gardens, Zoo, and Conservation Center is an amazing Bahamas stop when you’re looking for an attraction that keeps minds engaged, hands busy and senses whirling. Spend a day amongst amazing creatures of all kinds as you wander paths that take you through flamingo habitats, turtle exhibits, tropical bird enclosures and beyond. Trainers are on-hand to offer up demonstrations but will also happily deliver up insight into how the incredible creatures that are native to the islands are protected. The zoo is open to the public from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm daily, making it a convenient stop along the way as well!
Hope Town Lighthouse
When your family has some extra energy to burn and could stand for a one of a kind vantage point, make your way to Hope Town Lighthouse on Great Abaco Island. Situated at Elbow Cay, this stunning work of marine architecture reaches 89 feet into the sky and is open to the public who are ready and willing to tackle its 101 steps to the top. Resorted in 1934, the Hope Town Lighthouse is admired and loved for its red and white striped façade which makes it easy to identify. The Lighthouse is open from 9:30 am until 6:00 pm daily.
Atlantis Marine Habitat
This luxury resort is an icon of New Providence Island, but if you only have a little time to spare, make your way to the marine habitat that’s housed within the Atlantis Marine Habitat. Over 250 marine species call this habitat home and everyone from small children to adults will be enthralled by the opportunity to wander through, under and around the lagoons that hold over 50,000 aquatic animals. Those who are interested in an even more interactive adventure are free to spend some time snorkeling at Ruins Lagoon.
