Though Harbour Island is unparalleled in its beauty year-round, there are certain seasons that are better suited to different activities, attractions, and events on the island. For more information on the best times of year to plan Harbour Island vacations, read on below!
When to Plan Harbour Island Vacations
Like much of the Caribbean, Harbour Island enjoys its most fantastic weather during the high season months December through April, when the weather averages in the mid-70s and can dip into the 60s. The water can get chilly during this time of year, so be sure to bring a sweater and jacket for boat rides.
Major holidays are also a popular time to visit Harbour Island. In combination with the late winter and early spring season, major holidays are considered part of the high season as well.
Rates are higher during high season due to the phenomenal weather and wealth of recreation that visitors can partake in. For visitors who might wish to avoid higher rates, the summer and fall seasons often bring on less expensive rates for water sports packages and lodgings.
However, summer and autumn also bring on the Caribbean’s hurricane season, which runs from June through November, with the storm risk being highest during August through October. Watch out for rain and stormy weather during this time. Additionally, many of the shops and restaurants on the island close down for the season.
Local events add something extra to look forward to with Harbour Island vacations. Junkanoo is the top festival of the winter season, celebrated on Harbour Island on December 26th each year. Fall brings on the Harbour Island Sailing Regatta in October.
