Are you looking to relax, rejuvenate, and recharge? The Bahamas are a great destination for a health and wellness vacation. Among the places to go in the Bahamas there are beautiful beaches that invite you to relax, but also to swim, dive, and play, experiencing yourself in a whole new way. Check out these ideas for a great health and wellness journey!
Day One: Head to the Beach
Of course, you must start at the beach! You of course have a choice of islands to stay on, but it’s possible that the very best beaches are found on Eleuthera, a long, thin island fringed with pink and white sand. A great one to start off your trip is the beautiful French Leave Beach, sometimes locally known as Club Med Beach, since the resort used to be here (now overgrown with jungle). It’s located on the Atlantic side of the middle of the island, and is 1.5 miles of pink and white sand, turquoise water, sunshine, and pure enjoyment! Relax, nap in the sun, go for a swim or snorkel… this is the life!
Day Two: Get a Workout in on Your Bahamas To Do List
Now that you’re good and relaxed, it’s time for some exercise! There are options for yoga and pilates classes on Eleuthera, Harbour Island, and of course in the capital of Nassau. In Nassau, check out the Namaste Wellness Center, which offers pilates and yoga classes for adults, teens, and kids, with group and private lessons available. On Harbour Island (which is essentially part of Eleuthera, just separated by a bit of water), your best bet is to connect with a local teacher like Anna Fitzek, who offers group yoga classes twice a week on a beautiful pink sand beach.
Day Three: Take a Hike
Feeling ready for an adventure? Head to the southern tip of Eleuthera for a hike to an incredible secluded beach. Lighthouse Beach is a full-day adventure, as it’s around six miles round-trip if you don’t have a 4WD vehicle. Bring plenty of water, food, and sun protection, and enjoy miles and miles of gorgeous beach all to yourself. Not to mention the views from the lighthouse!
Day Four: Get Pampered
After all that adventure, you’ll be ready to pamper yourself! Head to The Cove Spa at The Cove Resort on Eleuthera for a day of rest and relaxation on your Bahamas to do list. Choose from a variety of massage modalities, including foot reflexology if that long hike yesterday got the best of you.
Day Five: Get Your Green-Juice Fix
Are you missing your favorite vegetarian restaurant from back home? While Bahamian cuisine is largely fish-focused, there are some great veggie options out there among the many places to go in the Bahamas. Stop by Sweet Spot Cafe in Dunmore Town on Harbour Island for a huge variety of raw, cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and vegan delicacies. Feast on a vegan lox bagel, avocado chia pudding, green power bowls, and more. Even though it’s a health food restaurant, they also offer their own creative alcoholic cocktails as well (Hey, it is a vacation!).
Day Six: Paddle Out
Stand-up paddling is the hottest new ocean sport, and the protected waters of Rock Sound on Eleuthera is a great place to give it a whirl. Companies like Eleuthera Adventure Tours rent out paddleboards from their oceanfront location, along with tandem kayaks if that sounds better to you. They’ll make sure you’re comfortable, and ready to enjoy your fun day paddling around Rock Sound!
Day Seven: Go Big
Since it’s the end of your trip, you might want to just chill on your favorite beach one more time. But if you’re up for more adventure, there are so many great day tours available to visitors here. Bahamas Out-Island Adventures offers a variety of day trips, ranging from kayak and snorkel tours to hiking and cave explorations.
Whatever activities you choose, you’re sure to sleep well at the end of the day in your comfortable Bahamas vacation rental!
