Whether you like to lounge on the beach, shop organic farms or make the most of sand-side restaurants, there are Bahamas activities for every traveler heading this direction when summer is in full swing.

Grab Drinks at Dunmore Hotel

Complete with lush tropical gardens, exquisite architecture and pink sand beaches to frame the scene, time spent at Dunmore Hotel in Harbor Island is decidedly time well-spent. You don’t have to be a guest here to enjoy lounging around at the ocean-side pool and ordering up a savory, hand-crafted cocktail. Sip the day away with friends and soak up the sun at this elegant location that comes with an unsurpassed view over the water. Located at 27122 Goal Street in Dunmore Town, The Dunmore is truly a gem in the heart of Harbour Island that is well-loved by locals and visitors alike.

Lounge Around at Double Bay Beach

The highlight of any summer trip to Harbour Island and Eleuthera is making the most of the unique pink sand beaches that this area calls its own. One of the best locations for soaking up summertime sun in style is Double Bay Beach. Known for its powdery sands and stretches of palm trees that provide the perfect amount of shade when needed, Double Bay Beach on the Atlantic side of Savannah Sound is the ultimate sun worshipper’s destination when summer brings you to the Bahamas.

The goal of raising children is no small feat. Mother’s Day provides an amazing opportunity to carve out time to celebrate the women who dedicate themselves to caring for and loving us. While moms everywhere appreciate the small gestures of gratitude, this year, why not consider going bigger? When you’re looking for a place packed with scenic beauty, amazing fun and incredible moments made to pamper mom, Eleuthera checks every box on the list.

This stunning piece of the Bahamian archipelago is loved by surf enthusiasts for its pristine waves and adored by beachgoers for its long shoreline boasting pink sands. Whether your mom is enchanted by time spent soaking up the sun or leans more towards the adventurous side of life, Eleuthera is a place that promises to satisfy. Here are a few Eleuthera activities you’ll need to add to the itinerary when planning the perfect Mother’s Day getaway to exciting Eleuthera.

The Queen’s Bath

When you’re visiting Eleuthera in celebration of mom, make sure to begin your Mother’s Day excursion at The Queen’s Bath. Your mother is sure to feel like royalty when you make time to indulge in the scenic waters this area provides. Located off Queen’s Highway and the Glass Window Bridge, the drive to this destination is just as breathtaking as the final stop. A thin strip of land separates the Atlantic from the Caribbean Sea into sections of vibrant blue and turquoise. Within this divide lies The Queen’s Bath on the Atlantic side. Natural rock formations fed by hot springs, this stop is almost surreal when the tide is right. Bring a beach towel and come soak up the sun in the warm, bubbly waters provided by nature herself. When the tide rises, move to higher ground and watch the impressive waves crash over the stone tubs for a follow-up show you won’t soon forget.

Edwin’s Turtle Lake Marine Reserve

The marine life that calls Eleuthera home is just as impressive as the many landmarks this island offers up. If your mom has a heart for creatures large and small, make your second Mother’s Day getaway stop at Edwin’s Turtle Lake Marine Reserve. This is the perfect place when you’re in the mood to experience an encounter with green sea turtles, tropical fish and an amazing array of birds. Feel free to enjoy the view from the sand or dock or rent a kayak or paddle board and get out on the water for a closer look. Rentals are available on an hourly or daily basis upon request.

Ocean Tally Bar and Grill

Mother’s Day is best topped off on a sweet note and there’s no better place to do that on Eleuthera than Ocean Tally Bar and Grill. Located at Whale Point Drive, this beautiful ocean-side restaurant is part of a larger bed and breakfast. Floor to ceiling windows and beautiful stone-accented décor provide the perfect setting from which to enjoy sweeping views out over the Atlantic as you wine and dine mom. Choose to sit indoors or outside on the patio but wherever you land, you won’t want to miss out on Ocean Tally’s famous hand-crafted cocktails. Decadent seafood selections and friendly staff make this one of the most well-loved restaurants on Eleuthera and a place you’ll want to make sure tops your Mother’s Day itinerary.

The Valentine’s Farmers Market takes place every Wednesday and features more than just fruits and vegetables for sale—although there are plenty of those to be found as well! The world under the sea is a magical one just waiting to be explored, and the easiest way is through snorkeling. No training is needed; you put on your mask and flippers, duck your head under the water, and float your way through the big blue enjoying the show. Some shows are better than others, of course, and during your stay in the Bahamas on Harbour Island you will discover the waters that surround us offer not just a really good show, but an extravaganza of showmanship. If you have never tried your hand at this water sport, the Bahamas is the best place to start. Here’s our guide to the best snorkeling on Harbour Island.

Tips for Beginners

As we stated earlier, snorkeling requires no training, but these tips will help you safely enjoy your first experience under the sea. Our first and what we consider most important tip is to let go of the fear: the fear of drowning, the fear of dangerous creatures, and the fear of being left behind. Let all the fears go; the bad stuff only happens in the movies! Avoid the cheap equipment when renting for your trip, practice before you enter the water (the shop where you rent will help you get comfortable with the equipment!) and stay relaxed. These next couple of hours are going to be some of the most exciting ones of your life, and when you stay calm, you’ll appreciate it more.

Best Snorkeling Conditions

The weather in the Bahamas is generally perfect year-round, but during storm season it is important to pay attention to the water conditions. If it’s looking a little stormy or the water is choppy, plan your snorkeling expedition for another day. The good weather always comes back and there’s plenty to keep you occupied in the meantime—even if it’s just taking a nap! Snorkeling from the beach is the safest and most common form of snorkeling here, but if you want to do some deep sea snorkeling, there are tour companies on the island that are willing to help.

Best Spots for Snorkeling on Harbour Island

To be honest, EVERY spot on Harbour Island is a good one for snorkeling, but there are some spots that are better than others, especially depending on what you’re interested in seeing. Three Fingers is a spot that is perfect for families snorkeling on Harbour Island with children, offering shallow corals and plenty of colorful fish for the littles to swim after. Man Island offers sea cucumbers and octopus, the Potato and Onion Wreck gives snorkelers an opportunity to explore a ship that sank in the 19thcentury, and finally, the Train Wreckallowssnorkelers to explore a train that fell off a ship all the way back in the Civil War!

Winter in the Bahamas is the best time of the year for getting out there and trying new things; the weather stays around a balmy 74 degrees with sunny skies and little rain. How can you not want to be outside doing new things when it’s this perfect? Of course, our piece of paradise is pretty close to perfect anytime you visit, but if you’re planning on a Winter in the Bahamas vacation this year, here is a guide to some fun things you might want to try during your Harbour Island winter escape!

Take a Peek of the Loyalist Cottage this Winter in the Bahamas

Located on Bay Street, this charming cottage was once the home to one of the original settlers of Harbour Island and its colorful exterior shines brighter in the winter sunshine. Built in 1797, its creamy white exterior is accented with dark teal shutters and its charm and appeal makes it the most frequently photographed home on the island. It’s not open to tourists, but just being able to see the exterior makes this local favorite a special treat during your stay.

Pink Beach Day

Every day is a great day at the beach on Harbour Island, but in the winter, you can really make your friends back home jealous when you visit our famous pink sand beach! Pack for a day of fun in the sun; beach blankets or chairs, a cooler of treats, and of course, don’t forget the sunscreen! The pink sand, created from the shells of tiny sea creatures that inhabit our waters, is a delight to see, but pink or even red skin from overexposure to the sun is not fun to experience!

Dive Deep

Winter in the Bahamas is the best time to try new things and with the warm waters lapping at our shores even in January, February or even March, why not try diving? Valentines Dive Center, located right here on Harbour Island offers certification, refresher classes, and of course, dive trips that will blow your mind. The beauty of the undersea world is destined to create a new obsession within you, and this dive center is happy to be the place that starts the fire!

Staying in and Playing

For many of us, vacation accommodations have only been a place to sleep at night, as we rush to start new adventures with the rising of the sun each day, but we think your winter Harbour Island escape should be different. Our Bahamas Real Estate vacation getaways offer luxury amenities and a lifestyle of elegance that would be a shame not to explore! Private pools, ocean views, and in many cases, private beaches meant for sun worshipping and relaxation; these are just a few of the wonders that you can expect from our homes. Reserve yours today and discover all the extras!

We like to believe there are two types of people in the world. The first type doesn’t feel alive unless they are out at the clubs, tasting the trendy drinks, dancing until the sun comes up, and drinking in the party atmosphere as if it were the nectar of the gods. The other type prefers the peace and quiet of yet another night at home and probably won’t be interested in what we are about to say; this guide is for those Harbour Island travelers seeking the party that won’t end, even after you make your way back home. Here is our guide to the Harbor Island nightlife!

Daddy D’s, Dunmore Street- Harbor Island Nightlife

From the outside, the average visitor would never realize the excitement that occurs nightly in Daddy D’s, one of the hottest nightclubs in the islands! Featuring colorful lights, beautiful people, and the beats that keep your toes tapping, every night on Harbour Island is special when you let your hair down at Daddy D’s! One of the newer party spots in paradise, it hasn’t taken long to become one of the most popular spots as well.

Gusty’s Bar, Bay Street

At a time when most people are contemplating hitting the sheets, in Harbour Island, it’s time for the party-loving crowd to come out and play and indulge the Harbor Island nightlife experience! If you visit Gusty’s any time before 10 pm, you really shouldn’t call yourself a partier! Featuring cold brews, hot dance music, and a sandy floor that serves to remind you that your stay in paradise just became a whole lot cooler, this club never says never when it comes to fun!

Seagrapes, Colebrook and Gibson Streets

As sunrise draws ever nearer, the party is just getting stronger, and Seagrapes is our favorite spot to end the night on a high note. Bahamian-style music played live every weekend sets the stage for an experience you won’t soon forget. Seagrapes is typically the spot to end your Harbour Island pub crawl, but it’s also a great place to start an evening of shenanigans. There’s no judgment here; they only ask that their guests have the time of their lives!

And the Party Continues, Even After Enjoying the Harbor Island Nightlife

Our less extroverted guests will have no trouble extolling the virtues of our Bahamas Real Estate vacation escapes. Offering a comfortable place to land after an exciting night on the town, our homes will make your Harbour Island nightlife experience an unforgettable one. Reserve yours today!

There are many spots in the Bahamas that are overcrowded with tourists, meaning that everywhere you go, you have to fight long lines and deal with the noise that accompanies large groups of people—but not on Harbour Island. Harbour Island is still a secret to the masses, and when you visit our favorite spot on earth, you’ll discover that most of the places and things to do in Harbor Island are off the beaten path and known only to the locals, guaranteeing that your Bahamas vacation is going to be blissful and serene!

Pink Sand Beaches- Things To Do In Harbor Island

In all our years of travel, we’ve visited white sand beaches, green and black sand beaches, but so far, the only place we have ever seen pink sand beaches is right here at home! Although the reasons behind the color are kind of gross when you think about it (it comes from the shells of dead insects that have been crushed and mixed with sand and coral), the shimmery pink of Pink Sands Beach is breathtaking and photographs beautifully.

The Glass Window Bridge

This is where two stunning seas come to meet. On one side, the royal blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, on the other the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Bight of Eleuthera. The Glass Window Bridge is actually a stone bridge with an opening that allows the waters to mingle on stormy days but mostly keeps them separated, creating an idyllic scene at which you won’t want to stop staring. Watching this beautiful scenery is one of our favorite things to do in Harbor Island.

Sip Sip

Only open from 11:30 AM until 4 PM, you’re about to enjoy the best lunch of your life when you chow down at Sip Sip. Offering views of the water that never fail to amaze and serving innovative Bahamian style foods, quick lunches here often turn into long ones filled with laughter, good food, and gossip—which is what the term sip sip actually means! And even though they are famous for their Lobster Quesadillas, every item on the menu is fresh, delicious, and made with locally-sourced ingredients when available.

Idyllic Homes for Those in Need of Peace, or For Enjoying These Things to Do in Harbor Island

While our Bahamas Real Estate homes are a popular choice for visitors from all over the world, they are still the only place to go when seeking a serene and peaceful escape from the world. Featuring beachfront views, spacious and open floor plans, and allowing our guests to feel as if they are the only people in the world, these homes are designed to spoil, and are close to all of the things to do in Harbor Island.
