Blue Ruin
The house is well situated right in Dunmore Town with incredible views of the water, and includes 4 charming bedrooms, each with a newly renovated private bath. Nestled into lush vegetation at the edge of the bay it offers complete privacy while being very close to several of the islands best restaurants. The property also include the islands first saltwater pool and relaxing pool deck with harbor views
Enter the property through a beautiful arched wooden doorway into a lushly landscaped courtyard with a dining table and access to the guest bedrooms, living room and kitchen. Past the front courtyard you walk into the airy living room with 20' ceilings and the original pickled-cypress walls. Adjoining the living room is the dining room and access to the bar/tv room, outdoor pavilion and master suite. Access to the guest wing is also available via the master suite.
The outdoor pavilion provides beautiful views from both its dining and seating areas and is a great place to watch the activity in the harbor and on the government dock. Below the pavilion you will find a saltwater pool and steps leading you down to the private dock.
The view across the bay to Eleuthera is beautiful, especially at sunset, and to the right is the charming waterfront and town dock. Swim in the pool and watch boats coming and going. The Blue Ruin’s location makes it perfect for walking along Bay Street and to some of the island’s best restaurants.
Daily house cleaning and gardening services are provided (Sunday excluded) and there is an on-call house manager that lives down the street if needed for any reason.
Private chefs for dinners can be arranged as well. Additionally, a new reverse-osmosis water system and generator are provided for the guests comfort.
A guest house is in the process of being renovated and will be available for the 2022 fall season.
Guest access
Guests have full access and use of the property.
In addition, there is a caretaker for the property who lives in a small basement apartment that is only accessible via outdoor stairs on the side of the house.
Other things to note
Power and water can be major issues on Harbour Island. Power currently comes from 'temporary' diesel generators and the service has regular interuptions. Fresh water comes from Eleuthera via underwater pipeline and the aging of the pipe has caused the water to have an extremely high salt content. For these reasons, The Blue Ruin provides backup power via it's own diesel generator and a reverse-osmosis water system to filter and treat the water supply.
The property is approximately 10 to 12 minutes walking distance to the beach and most of the island is very walkable. Renting a golf cart for a day or for your whole stay is a great way to have access to the whole island and is a fun way to get around and sightsee.
This house is not available for parties of any sort, and can't be rented to any groups where parents are not present.
