There are many spots in the Bahamas that are overcrowded with tourists, meaning that everywhere you go, you have to fight long lines and deal with the noise that accompanies large groups of people—but not on Harbour Island. Harbour Island is still a secret to the masses, and when you visit our favorite spot on earth, you’ll discover that most of the places and things to do in Harbor Island are off the beaten path and known only to the locals, guaranteeing that your Bahamas vacation is going to be blissful and serene!

Pink Sand Beaches- Things To Do In Harbor Island

In all our years of travel, we’ve visited white sand beaches, green and black sand beaches, but so far, the only place we have ever seen pink sand beaches is right here at home! Although the reasons behind the color are kind of gross when you think about it (it comes from the shells of dead insects that have been crushed and mixed with sand and coral), the shimmery pink of Pink Sands Beach is breathtaking and photographs beautifully.

The Glass Window Bridge

This is where two stunning seas come to meet. On one side, the royal blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, on the other the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Bight of Eleuthera. The Glass Window Bridge is actually a stone bridge with an opening that allows the waters to mingle on stormy days but mostly keeps them separated, creating an idyllic scene at which you won’t want to stop staring. Watching this beautiful scenery is one of our favorite things to do in Harbor Island.

Sip Sip

Only open from 11:30 AM until 4 PM, you’re about to enjoy the best lunch of your life when you chow down at Sip Sip. Offering views of the water that never fail to amaze and serving innovative Bahamian style foods, quick lunches here often turn into long ones filled with laughter, good food, and gossip—which is what the term sip sip actually means! And even though they are famous for their Lobster Quesadillas, every item on the menu is fresh, delicious, and made with locally-sourced ingredients when available.

The Bahamas are calling you to leave the cold winter behind and come enjoy the bright sun, the pink sand, and the wonderful attractions these islands have to offer. Nothing says tropical vacation like the Harbour Island. Whether it’s a honeymoon, a dream vacation, or you just are not a big fan of the long cold winter months, this tropical paradise will keep you entertained throughout your stay with the many Bahamas activities.

Fishing and Diving- Bahamas Activites

As one of the original attractions in the island, both divers and anglers come here for the clear water, fascinating coral reefs and the abundance of game in the waters. Snorkeling is one of the most popular activities here thanks to the coral gardens and the mammal life. Dolphins also enjoy a good swim around the Gulf Stream and Bimini. Explore the mysteries of the Andros and its blue holes and find out what fish the flats have to offer.

Island Hopping in the Bahamas

Island hopping in the Bahamas is another sought-after activity around here. With so many beautiful islands around you, it would be a waste not to go visit them all. Many of the islands form a chain within a chain. Some islands are themselves a chain of smaller islands. Abacos and the Exumas are two such examples. Take your time exploring each island and enjoying all the activities there from diving to bone-fishing and seeking the elusive blue marlin.

While everybody back home is bundling up in the winter, you will be out golfing on some of the best courses in the world. The lakes and manicured courses make the game extremely irresistible. Practice your shots at your pace as you take in the views around you and have a fun day outdoors with your golf buddies. Some courses require reservations so make sure you book in advance. Beach Combing

When you have an abundance of beautiful beaches, what better way is there to spend your day than combing those beaches looking for all the exquisite shells that the ocean throws at your feet. Some of those shells are hidden, so make sure to dig in the sand and see what lies underneath. The currents replenish these shores with the bounties of the sea, so every time you visit the beach, new treasures wait for you.
